Conley girls placed 12th in the NCHSAA 3A cross country championship on Saturday in Kernersville. It was the Vikings first trip to the championships in over 20 years.
Senior Emma Cole ran a season-best time to lead the Vikings with a 64th place finish. In addition to Cole, Jennifer Perez (70th, 21:28), Annika Stoakes (99th, 21:34), Alice Guth (116th, 21:53) and Eve Curtis (122th, 22:02 scored for Conley. Channing Manning (136th, 22:22) and Olivia Chiancone (156th, 23:55) rounded out the Conley finishers.
Cuthbertson edged out Chapel Hill for the team championship. Conley scored 382 points as did Cox Mill HS, but Conley was awarded the 12th spot on the basis of the tiebreaker (finish place of the 6th runner).
